What's cooking today?

A: What’s cooking for lunch today?

B: I haven't decided yet. Would you like to eat something special?

A: Well, I was thinking we should try something other than sandwiches.

B: How about steak?

A: That’s not a bad idea. It’s been a long time since you made steak.

B: Alright. It’s going to be yummy, juicy steak for lunch today.

A：今天午餐做什么呢？

B：我还没决定呢。你有没有什么特别想吃的？

A：嗯，我在想我们可以试试三明治以外的食物。

B：牛排怎么样？

A：这主意不坏。你好久没做牛排了。

B：好的。今天午餐就吃美味多汁的牛排吧。

1. What’s cooking for lunch today?

这句话是问做什么饭吃。一般我们可能会说：What do you cook for lunch? 不过在英文中，cook这个词也可以主动形式表示被动：What’s cooking for…? 做什么吃？

此外，在口语中，你还会听到“be cooking”的另一个用法，意指“to be happening or being planned, often secretly”，即是“发生或筹划什么事”。你甚至会听到有人用这句话来问候别人：

What’s cooking?

相当于说：What’s happening?
