B: Now that we are having a baby, my wife and I have decided to stay in this area. Renting just doesn’t make sense. A: How are you going to finance it? Houses around here are very expensive. B: My parents have offered to lend us the down payment. We’ll get a loan and make mortgage payments. It’s not much more expensive than what we were paying in rent. A: it sounds like you know what you are doing. B: The only thing I am worried about now is decoration! It doesn't seem to make sense. 她干嘛要做那样的事？没意义。 ************ 3. finance (to provide money for (a project, etc); fund) He took a job to finance his stay in Germany. 他找了份工作来维持他在德国逗留的费用。 The scheme is partly financed by a government grant. 此计划有一部分是政府资助的。 ************ 4. down payment 首付 (a first payment that you make when you are buying something and are going to pay the rest later) We've almost got enough money to make a down payment on a house. 我们已经有足够的钱能付买房的首付了。 I've made/put a down payment on a new TV and a stereo. 我已经付了首付，买了一台新的电视和音响。 ************ 5.
