T shows Ss a spoon or fork.

T: Everybody look, what do I have?

T: Yes, I’m going to start eating.

T: Can you tell me what you like to eat?

Ss: (Some food they know, even Chinese is acceptable.)

T: Great! Today, we are going to read a story about food. (T Takes out the book) Look at the cover, what do you see?

Ss: (Anything they observed)

T: Good Job! The cat is eating with a fork. That’s funny. What does he have? Let’s turn the page.

T: Today is Monday. Monday, string beans. Oh, there is a hedgehog. It’s eating string beans. Wow, it looks delicious. Do you like string beans?

Ss: Yes.

T: You can say I like to eat string beans. (With TPR)

(Teacher can ask students to guess what will happen next.)

1.Sorting

T need a weekly schedule worksheet, and helps the students to fill up food pictures while singing the Today is Monday song.

T: Today is Monday, today is Monday. Monday~?

Ss: String beans!

T: Today is Tuesday, today is Tuesday. Tuesday~?

Ss: Spaghetti!

T: Monday~?

Ss: String beans!

2.Word search

T will need flash cards with seven days of the week, and prepare a word search worksheet. Students are going to find correct words with or without T’s help.

T: What day is it? (Present a FC)

Ss: Monday.

T: Can you find the word Monday?

Ss: Yes!

3. What day is today?

T will prepare the numbers of 1 to 31 and a calendar of a month. One student draws a number, finds the correct position on the calendar, then answer the question.

T: Hi Lucy, what number do you have?

S: 17

T: Now, let’s find number 17 on this calendar.

T: Here it is.

T: So, what day is today?

S: Today is Thursday.

4.Tic-Tac-Toe

The teacher will draw a tic-tac-toe board on the blackboard and paste food flash cards in the nine spaces. The teacher and the student play paper scissiors stone game. The winner says what he likes to eat, and then writes down the symbol ○ or ×. The one who connects the symbols into a line first wins.
