that引导的定语从句

本名言是简单句，主句为主系表（SVC）结构，主语the only thing后接that引导的定语从句，表语是名词短语hard work。

英语中，当先行词指物，并包含有all, only, something等不定代词时，其后接的定语从句只能用that，不能用which。关系代词如果在从句中作宾语，可以省略。

More examples: 

Money is the only thing that matters to them. 

对他们来说，钱是唯一重要的东西。

The only thing that can cure a cold is time. 

只有时间能治愈感冒。

They'll never be friends again after all that has passed between them. 

经过了这么多事情，他们已经友谊难再了。
