【原】不是所有的 good 都是“好的”意思，就像 good money 不是“好钱”的意思

钱只有多少或干净不干净之说，但是从来没听说过钱是好是坏，那么可想而知，good money 肯定不是“好钱”的意思，它很容易被望文生义。其实 good 的意思远不止“好的”意思，就像一个 I'm good 也就是单纯的“我是好的”意思。

相信大家都听说或是用过 a good many 这个短语，那么有几个人了解过其中 good 的意思呢？其实这里的 good 相当于 great，表示数量或程度大，意为“相当大的，相当多的”，只作前置定语，例如：

The kitchen is a good size.

这厨房相当大。

We've walked a good distance today.

我们今天走了很长一段路。

There's a good chance that I won't be here next year.

我明年很可能不在这儿。

那么 a good/great many 就是“许多，很多”的意思，后面接可数名词，对应的接不可数名词的是 a good deal of，例如：

1. a good/great many + 可数名词

I have rather a large influence over a good many people.

我对很多人都有相当大的影响力。

We have a great many things to do at present. 

我们当前有许许多多事要做。

2. a good deal of + 不可数名词

The new law met with a good deal of opposition at the local level.

新法律在地方层面遭到许多反对。

It'll cost a great deal of money to mount the play. 

要组织这场戏得花很多钱。

细心的你可能已经发现了，修饰名词时， a good many 直接接名词，而 a good deal 后面要先接万人迷 of，而且反过来的情况又截然不同；当 a good many 接万人迷 of 时就变成了不定代词，而 a good deal 不接万人迷 of 时就变成了名词或副词。

1. a good many of + 复数名词或宾格代词，表示“…中的许多/很多东西”，例如：

A good many of the workers had the flu.

许多工人得了流感。

A good many of his books were bought from this bookstore. 

他的许多书是从这个书店里买的。

2. a good deal 作名词，意为“大量，许多”，作副词时，意为“很，非常”，修饰动词或比较级，例如：

I have tried to pack a good deal into a few words. 

我尽量言简意赅。

A great deal has been done internally to prevent the virus from speading.

内部已经做了大量工作来防止病毒传播。

I'm feeling a good deal better. 

我感觉好多了。

那么同理，good money 不是“好钱”的意思，虽然我认为钱都是好的，因为有钱能使鬼推磨或钱是万能的（money talks）；good money 意为“大笔的钱，辛苦挣来的钱“，相当于 a lot of money，例如：

Thousands of people paid good money to watch the band perform.

成千上万的人花很多钱去观看这支乐队的演出。

She makes good money in her new job.

她在新工作中赚了很多钱。

Why do you insist on spending good money on the boring game?

你为什么坚持要在无聊的游戏上花大钱？

但是再怎么大笔的钱，还是不可数的，虽然它看起来是可数的，所以 good money 始终是 good money，此时我们还可以用 fortune 来表示一大笔钱，此时的 fortune 是可数名词，例如：

He made a fortune in real estate.

他在房地产上发了财。

A car like that costs a small fortune .

像这样的轿车要花一大笔钱。

人都不会嫌钱多，但只有不违背良心赚得的钱才是越多越好，花起来才会心安理得或怡然自得。
