在疫情摇摆于严重与缓和之间的这段时间里，电影人们依旧辛勤创作，让不少新作克服重重困难问世。其中，《继续前进》作为一部两个多小时的纪录片，将镜头对准80年代末柏林墙倒塌的前夕。在这个特殊的时间与地点，一群舞者该如何在个体的追求、家庭的重压与国家的对立纠葛中做出选择？

“向外转”，这是芭蕾舞中的一个舞蹈动作，但是当它被赋予了现实意义——“继续前进”，就变成了一种渴望自由的象征，继而是“大跳”，继而是“追赶”，而“练习”和“大步”便成为爆发力量的准备阶段。萨拉尔·哈兹以这些舞蹈动作命名各部分的章节，串联出上世纪80年代末离开东德的那些舞蹈艺术家追求自由生活的整个过程。他们都是民主德国顶级表演者，是舞蹈艺术的精英，当他们被允许前往西方演出，很多人选择了离开。从民主德国到联邦德国，从东柏林到西柏林，仅仅隔着一道墙，却隔着两个世界。而离开自己的祖国选择另一个世界，对于他们来说，是一种勇气，更是一种挣扎，甚至当他们的行为被官方冠以“叛逃”，无论是朋友还是家人，都受到了影响。这是一种抉择，但是做出这种抉择对他们来说到底意味着什么？或者，他们为什么要冒险成为“叛逃者”？在这个剧团里，斯文是第一个离开的人，凌晨2点整理好了自己的行李，3点的时候就和搭档的迈克偷偷去了火车站，当他坐上火车便是永远离开了祖国。比吉特没有和在国内的丈夫克劳斯·邓比尔和儿子大卫告别，就开始了自己背离的人生，9岁的大卫总是问克劳德，妈妈什么时候回来，克劳德告诉他：“她总有一天会回来的。”这是斯文、迈克和比吉特“向外转”的经历，接着便是更多的人“追赶”他们的脚步。从始作俑者斯文开始，到其他人“追赶”，舞蹈剧团选择以“叛逃”的方式“继续前进”，在当时来说，是一种勇敢，更是一种冒险。但是，当30多年后，那堵墙已经坍塌，萨拉尔·哈兹再次将镜头对准他们，历史仿佛已经走远了。黑白的影像，当事人的回忆，是在追寻那一段逝去的岁月，但是在还原过程中，现实和历史，访谈和回忆，仿佛也隔着一堵墙，而为什么会冒险成为“叛逃者”似乎也成了一个弱化到找不到答案的问题。实际上80年代末发生的“叛逃”，在那个特殊时期一定被赋予了政治上的解读。罗兰·格里克是比吉特的姐姐施特菲的恋人，他回忆在60年代的时候就有人想要叛逃，1960年的时候，他在小姨丽莎的鼓励下投身于舞蹈事业，1961年他们从德累斯顿来到了东柏林，那时候丽莎就计划“叛逃”，但是她没有付诸实施，对于这段无疾而终的叛逃计划，罗兰的说法是：“她那时候几乎精神崩溃了。”罗兰没有细说丽莎的精神崩溃是因为叛逃可能给家人带来无法估量的影响，还是因为条件不成熟自己的计划是一种盲目，总之丽莎的失败给罗兰的直接影响是：“我学会了抵制诱惑，后来再也没有去想过这个问题。”而当比吉特真正实施了“叛逃”，他的言辞之间似乎并不是支持，甚至认为这是极大的冒险。的确，比吉特选择离开，在自己来说是为了艺术的进步，但是对于儿子大卫、丈夫克劳德来说，则是另一种折磨。在政治的高压之下，叛逃行为本身似乎有着太多的争议，甚至当柏林墙倒塌的时候，当更多的人蜂拥去往另一边的时候，有人还担心这只是暂时的，“墙还会补起来。”撇除政治制造的高压这个因素，当剧团有人选择离开，真的如比吉特所说是一种对艺术进步的追求？从“练习”这一章节来看，萨拉尔·哈兹似乎是将“向外转”和“追求”都看成是艺术发展本身的需要。几乎一致是为了追求自己想要的生活：克劳德十六七岁的时候尝试过很多次事情，但都不适合自己，后来一次偶然的机会进入了“红舞者”舞团，开始了自己的舞蹈事业，也正因此认识了比吉特；马里奥的父亲是一名共产党员，他曾要求马里奥练习拳击，但是马里奥自己却选择了舞蹈学校；雷蒙德在24岁的时候才知道自己的父亲是个政治犯，当被舞蹈学校录取时，他自嘲“我被录取是一个奇迹。”斯文进入舞蹈学校的时候家境并不好，他甚至担心父母的收入无法让他完成学业，但是在毕业演出中，成绩优异的他还是选择了自己的理想，走上了舞台……他们喜爱舞蹈，和舞蹈结缘，甚至把舞蹈看成是自己的理想，而这种对艺术的执著在本质上也是一种逃离。比吉特和施特菲是两姐妹，父母一共有四个孩子，原先他们住在南部的厄尔士山脉，有一次比吉特在收音机里听到了披头士，于是她的世界一下子打开了。姐妹俩报名参加了舞蹈团的考试，施特菲十岁的时候就开始了寄宿生活，选择舞蹈对于她来说就是一次现实的逃离，“我本能上就想离开那个偏僻小镇。”从厄尔士山脉到东柏林，“坐在火车上我太开心了。”离开小镇来到首都，这是一次为了理想的离开，而从东柏林到更远的西方，在某种意义上也是如比吉特所说，是为了“艺术的进步”。这是对于艺术本身的追求，在“练习”时，作为编导的比吉特就对那些演员说：“有时候轻就是重。”而即使在柏林墙倒塌之后，政治的隔阂成为历史，比吉特依然对芭蕾舞有着最纯粹的理解：“芭蕾舞需要很高的纪律性，你必须征服自己的脆弱，必须让身体痛苦。”人们对智利前辈帕特里西奥的怀念，对“单脚旋转很美”的杰拉尔德的思念，对在柏林自杀的迈克的回忆，都是在体会舞蹈这一艺术本身痛苦意义——穿插着舞蹈《凯斯》《男女·情侣》的场景，萨拉尔·哈兹就是用这些影像来展现舞蹈的独特魅力，很多舞者都做过手术，但是他们希望自己“能精彩地结束它”——这就是艺术的永恒魅力，就是追求理想中“不能承受之轻”的沉重。对舞蹈艺术永不停歇地追求，让他们一次次逃离，一次次超越，但是当被置于那个特殊的时代，在萨拉尔·哈兹的叙事中，这种艺术性解读似乎就弱化了。还是回到那个关键的问题，他们为什么要选择“叛逃”？萨拉尔·哈兹似乎没有给出一个最完美的答案。一方面，舞者在当时的社会环境中，的确感受到了政治上压抑的环境，但这些理由似乎并不能成为他们离开的理由。剧团里总是会出现他们不认识的陌生人，他们怀疑是斯塔西（前东德国家安全部）的人员；他们去国外演出时，家人难以逃离“互为人质”的命运；从国外回来播放异域的幻灯片，会招来同事的嫉妒……如此等等，似乎并不足以让他们冒险“叛逃”。有两件事似乎是一个导火索，1988年的那一场《渔歌集》在共和宫演出，这一出舞蹈是将帕特里西奥的词和希腊音乐结合起来，但是因为其中有一个老太太的角色，被人看成是映射“邪恶的资本主义”；“她的子宫飞出了苍蝇……”演出变成了一起政治事件，共和宫门口开始了集会。“这是剧团灾难的开始。”克劳德说，但是这个政治事件对剧团到底造成了怎样的影响，萨拉尔·哈兹并没有交代。另一个事件是克劳德在希腊演出时，组织人员去参观了奥林匹亚山，但那时因为没有报备，官方说他们“集体叛逃”，但实际上他们还是一个不少地返回了——仅仅是一个插曲，似乎也不能成为“叛逃”的理由。另一种对“叛逃”的解释，是那堵墙外的世界打开了他们向外的目光，经过有军官的边境，经过了检查站，当他们来到联邦德国的时候，他们透过车窗看到了完全不同的世界，有人惊呼这是“人间的天堂”，他们看到了街上的跑车、鳞次栉比的建筑和琳琅满目的商品。“这就是西德。”他们惊喜，他们赞叹。但是仅此而已，这无非是一个经济发达、物质丰裕的西德，舞蹈团对这个世界的向往根本没有上升到所谓的艺术领域——如果萨拉尔·哈兹能够在这里插入展现西德当时艺术水准的画面，并将两者并置在一起，或许更有说服力。舞者在车上浮光掠影般的羡慕甚至只是一种“诱惑”，无法触及对艺术更高目标的追求。同样，当“叛逃”发生，舞者似乎也没有在更自由的国家追寻艺术的进步，比吉特，这个曾经剧团里最优秀的编导，“叛逃”之后，她远离了艺术，甚至为着最基本的生存发愁。现实和艺术，仿佛被另一堵墙所隔断，在萨拉尔·哈兹的世界里，黑白影像的叙事，若断若续的回忆，依然无法真正触摸历史的真实，就像《男女·情侣》这一出舞蹈中，男人朝着前进的方向，女人却以向后的方式寻找出口，而在他们中间是被隔绝的黑暗。这是永不可逾越的墙，这边和那边，历史和现在，以及离开和回来，成为没有答案的选择，只有在最后打出字幕时，影像变成彩色，舞者露出自信的微笑，历史被人为翻过一页的他们，才成为“继续前进”的舞者。Please see the festival full line-up in belowScreening Schedule/ Broadway Cinema Screenings/ Special Screenings/ Venues and TicketingScroll down to the bottom for the direct ticketing portals-Screening Schedule-

The dance piece marks the young choreographer’s breakthrough. Seven dancers perform in “Keith”. Less than a year later, four of them – including Birgit herself - will have left the GDR, some of them fleeing during guest performances for the “class enemy”.These dancers, most of whom come from “modest” backgrounds, have been trained by the state to be top performers. While Fassbinder radically pursues his creative vision and views of society and people,he polarises professionally and privately. Despite early setbacks, many of his filmsbreakthrough at the most renowned films festivals and are hailed and hated by audience, critics and fellow filmmakers. His anger and his longing for love as well as his self-exploitation, which he also imposes on everyone around him, have made him the most memorable and radical film director, an enfant terrible.
