Many knitters would not hesitate to describle the process of blocking as magical.

很多编织者会毫不犹豫地将定型的过程描述为神奇的（有魔力的）。

Blocking is the process of wetting，pressing，or steaming  finished knit pieces to give them permanent size and shape.

定型是将完成的织片过水，熨烫，蒸汽的过程，以给其永久的尺寸和形状。

You should give this process as much care and attention as you do to knitting the pieces.

对待这个过程，你应该像对待织片一样小心和仔细。

Most pieces of knitting should be blocked before seaming.

多数织片应该在缝合前定型。

In addition,you can lightly steam seams from the wrong side once they are sewn.

当衣片缝合后，你可以从反面轻柔蒸汽熨烫缝合处。

The only times you would block a completed sweater when making a circular garment or when washing a sweater after wearing it.

只有定型圈织衣物或穿着后清洗才会对完成的毛衣进行定型。

在打小样时，也要对样片进行定型，方法应和将编织的衣片一致。小样的密度测量以及是否适合未来的编织评估，均是在定型完成后进行的。  

         Tools for Blocking 定型工具

1、large，flat padded surface大的，平整的，软材料填充的表面

可以购买可拼接的泡沫爬行垫，方便收纳。注意要买厚度大一点的。

2、Rustproof pins 防锈的定型钉（针）

3、type measure卷尺

4、spray bottle with  cold water装冷水的喷壶

5、pressing cloth熨布

6、towel毛巾

7、Blocking wire（optional）定型钢丝（可选）

基本的定型工具就是这些，其他的比如大的空间，用来拉出直线的毛线绳等，可以因地制宜灵活运用。

Ways of blocking定型方式

Your  decisions about how to block your pieces will depend on the content of the yarn and the type of stitch pattern.

决定如何定型织片决定于线材的成份和针法花型。

It is a good idea to block pieces right side up ,so you can see the result as you block .

正面朝上定型以便看到定型效果。

To pin,begin at key area such as the shoulders,the bust/chest just below the armhole,and at the lower edge points.

在主要区域，例如肩膀，袖窿下面的胸/胸口，以及下部边缘点上扎钉。

 Insert the pins at a slight angle,approximately 1inch(2.5cm) apart.

定型针以一个小角度扎入，约间距1英寸（2.5厘米)

1、wet blocking 湿定型

You can either complete  submerge the pieces in water before laying them on your blocking surface,or you can first pin the pieces down and use a spray bottle to wet them thoroghly.

你可以先将衣片完全浸入水中，然后平铺在定型物表面上，或者先将其钉好，使用喷水壶将其彻底喷湿。

Always allow the pieces to dry completely before beginning to seam them.

在开始缝合前要让织片完全干燥。

2、steam pressing蒸汽整烫
You can steam press with an iron or a hand-hold steamer.

你可以使用熨斗或者手持蒸汽熨斗 进行整烫。

If you use an iron,never place it directly onto your knitted piece.

如果使用熨斗，绝不要直接将它压在织片上。

Hold it above the piece and slowly work over the entire area.

将其置于织片上方（悬空）慢慢处理完整个区域。

It is a good idea to use a pressing cloth between the iron and knitted piece to protect the surface from intense heat to keep it clean.

将熨布放在织片和熨斗之间可以保护表面不会过度受热并保持清洁，是个好主意。

     定型前请仔细看一下线标，了解线材的成分。

湿定型：

棉麻类直接过冷水，毛类40度温水浸泡半小时，可适当加入护发素，同温度水清洗三遍。然后挤去水分或用大毛巾吸去多余水分。平铺，按照款型需求使用定型杆，T针，排针结合进行定型3天。不可暴晒，自然晾干。

蒸汽定型：

按照熨斗标的线材对应温度进行处理。
