From 1915 onwards Chaplin began writing, directing and acting, even producing and editing. He later joined esani and produced The Immigrant and Happy Street in 1917. His next film was Modern Times in 1936. Four years later he made The Great Dictator. In 1952, his talkie Limelight was released, the same year he moved to Switzerland.
