【原】巧用词汇令你的英文瞬间出彩

想来有不少人都或多或少有这样的体会，遇到口语表达或是英语作文时，常常为缺乏高级词汇而苦恼。其实很多你看着毫不起眼的小词汇都可以信手拈来，令你的表达瞬间出彩，显得格外高大上。

不知道大家还记不记得下面这句话?

Now, the experience has narrowed into what is possible through a computer screen. 如今，这种经历被压缩成了通过一个电脑屏幕带来的可能性。

这是第十四期《阅读外刊学英文》里的其中一句话，不妨再想一想如果让你去表达，会怎么去说或者去写?通常情况下我们可能会首先想到使用reduce，cut down或是compress之类的词汇来表达压缩之意，更为悲催的是有童鞋在考场紧张的氛围下可能会头脑一片空白，陷入僵局。看看上面的例句中所用的是narrow 一词来表达压缩之意，将最常见的形容词转化为动词，瞬间形象生动，同时地道写出想要表达的意思。

类似的精妙词汇还有许多，像low,color, air，level等等。

例如:

As more young people seek degrees, the returns both to them and to governments are lower.过多人追求学位会导致个人和政府的回报均降低。

The book was a beautiful one with superb colored illustrations and he turned to one of them. 这本书很漂亮，有着精美的彩色插图，他翻开到其中一页。
