 自学习雕塑创作起持续专注研究与实践，作品关注个体生长的时代印记，至今坚定于物理形式塑造的温度，作品拥有广泛的收藏记录。蔡江南的创作直接回到日常，在寻常生活中积累的表情，构成了他作品的视觉力量，经过缜密的思考与归结，以松弛的姿态展露个性。一个自我放大以后是很多自我，很多个自我就是人本身，而人的感知与所处时代息息相关。成长过程中的强烈冲突，是他对周围的深切感受。带着对历史瞬间观察后的余兴，在泥土中进行日常训练，以雕塑作为容器，自觉地用作品来记录地方现实，在交错的塑造过程中生产指向本质的秩序。
