Question：副词也有比较级吗？

Answer：是的，今天我们会涉及到副词比较级的问题。形容词（III）形容词的比较级和最高级的构成及副词的比较级和最高级。

I．形容词比较级和最高级的构成：

1. 单音节形容词

     在形容词后面加-er构成比较级, 在形容词后面加 –est构成最高级：.

   

2. 双音节形容词

1）以-y, -le, -er, -ow 结尾的双音节形容词的比较级和最高级的构成如下：

           

2） 其他双音节形容词的比较级和最高级的构成：在形容词前加 more , (the) most.

         

3. 多音节形容词

  1） 多音节（三个音节以上）形容词的比较级和最高级的构成：在形容词前加more, (the) most.  

  2) 带有否定前缀-un（如tidy – untidy）的形容词的比较级和最高级的构成：既可在词尾加-er/-est ，也可在词前加 more/(the) most

  3) 表示“不如”  “最不…” 也可以在形容词前加 less，（the） least

4．不规则形容词的比较级和最高级

  1 有些形容词的比较级和最高级是不规则的：

                      

  2 只在谈论家庭成员时用elder, the eldest.

     my elder brother  my eldest sister

     不用 elder +than    不说: 'He’s elder than his brother.’

3 在谈论距离时可用farther或further。Further 还有'另外的、更深层的’之意。

 Liverpool’s 10 miles away. Manchester’s farther /further.

II．副词的比较级

Reading:

   Here is part of the results of a survey about the differences between men and women in Britain:

In general，women drive better and more carefully than men. They have 25% fewer accidents. They drive most carefully when they have children in the car. 52% of men pass the driving test first time, but only 39% of women.

Women get up earlier than men and go to bed later. (Six minutes earlier in the morning and ten minutes later at night.)

Women work harder than men in the home.Women aged between 45 and 60 work the hardest. (They spend 2.25 hours a day on housework.)

1 多数副词的比较级和最高级的构成是在副词前加more ,  most.     

They drive most carefully when they have children in the car.

2 有一些不规则副词。

        well/better/(the)best      

  badly/worse/(the) worst

       far/farther(further)/thefarthest(the furthest)

        Women drive better than men.

3下列副词的比较级和最高级的构成是在词尾加-er, -est.

  fast, soon, hard, high, near, long, late, early
