格伦·布朗(Glenn Brown)1966年生于英国诺森伯兰,1988年进入巴斯高等教育学院学习。1990年至1992年在伦敦戈德史密斯学院学习,2000年获特纳奖提名。

对于布朗来说,停留在他绘画实践最核心处的是他与颜料之间爱情,是颜料本身与历史的丰富关联,颜料性感的质地,以及布朗细致的处理。“我喜欢我的画作行将就木,不完全地属于这个世界。对于我来说它们存在于一个梦想的世界中,一个我熟睡时凝聚和变异的潜意识中的图像集合构成的世界。”

For Brown, what lies at the heart of his painting practice is his love affair with paint, its rich historical connection, its sexy texture, and Brown's meticulous treatment. "I like the fact that my paintings are dying and don't fully belong to the world. For me they exist in a dream world, a world of condensed and mutated images from my subconscious while I sleep."

Glen brown is good at digging out useful things from art history and pop culture, and thus creates an artistic language that transcends time and painting conventions. His stylistic impulses stem from a desire to give new life to the end-points of history. For all his reference and misappropriation of something else, he presents a new and memorable contemporary interpretation of the image.

The borrowed image and landscape were carefully reconstructed and extended by him, and gradually made these themes fascinating and lively. Brown in delicate composition, combined with the history of the different elements, like a Renaissance, impressionism, surrealism, and thus created a space in abstract and deep, rational and absurd, beautiful and bizarre, mixed in a dizzying mix.

格伦·布朗善于从艺术史和流行文化中挖掘出有用的东西,从而创造出一种超越时间和绘画惯例的艺术语言。他的风格来自于给历史的终点赋予新生命的渴望。尽管他引用和挪用了其他的东西,但呈现了一个新的和令人难忘的图像当代的解释。
