Spoil Things by Excessive Enthusiasm In the spring and Autumn period, there was a farmer in the state of Song. He went to work in the fields every day. He didn't go home until the sun went down. Day after day, he worked very hard. The farmer has a quick temper. Every day before going home, he measured the seedlings to see if they had grown. He looked at the seedlings and suddenly an idea came to him. He said to himself: 'Oh, such a good way, I didn't think of it earlier!' He ran happily to the field and pulled up every seedling. In this way, his seedlings are much higher than those of others. When the sun had gone down, the farmer came home panting and said to his son, 'Hey, I've had a really exhausting day. I pulled out some of the plants, and they grew so much taller.' Hearing this, the son felt very surprised. He went to the field and found that all the seedlings had died.  拔苗助长 春秋时期，宋国有个农夫，他每天都要去田里劳动，直到太阳下山才回家，日复一日，非常辛苦。 这农夫是个急性子的人。每天回家前，他都要量一量秧苗有没有长高。可是，几天过去了，秧苗还是老样子。 一天，农夫坐在田埂上休息。看见别人家的秧苗都比自家的高，他心里非常着急。他望着秧苗，脑子里突然蹦出了一个主意。他自言自语：“唉，这么好的办法，我怎么没早点想出来啊！” 他开心地跑到田里，把每一棵秧苗都拔高了一些。这样，他的秧苗比别人家的秧苗高了不少。 太阳落山了，农夫气喘吁吁地回到家里，兴奋地对儿子说：“嘿，我今天可真是累坏了。我把所有的秧苗都拔出来一些，它们一下子就长高了很多。” 儿子听了，觉得很奇怪，于是跑到田里一看，发现秧苗全都枯死了。 |
