Prepare a notebook for note-taking, and complete the following reading tasks. You are supposed to hand in your notebooks at the beginning of next term. 1. Read and finish all the exercises in Global Reading (Issue 29 & 30). The words and phrases in “Language points for learning” (P8 & P24) and “Vocabulary” (P16 & P32) will also be tested in the quiz mentioned above. 2. Read five English short stories. You may choose what suits your English language ability and personal interest from the recommended materials. You are required to analyze each story using the “story mountain” tool (see appendix). & Recommended short stories & 101 Classic Short Stories (authored by O. Henry, Jack London, etc) Above all, summer is a season of growth and vitality. Make a plan, keep on learning, and you will come back stronger.
