We're gonna learn some phrases we can use to describe a mistake.

And we're also going to learn how we can comfort someone, we can make them feel better.

Okay, so, let's listen to our dialogue.

A: ... so, I said, "let's take a break." And since that night, I've been waiting for him to call, but I still haven't heard from him. You don't think he's seeing someone else, do you?

1. 弱读：for, to
对话中：I've been waiting for him to call.
弱读分析：在句子中，意思相对不重要的单词，可以进行弱读，这样发音的时候会比较省力，比如介词可以进行弱读。句中的for/fɔːr/, 可以弱读为/fər/，/ə/发音时舌头自然放松放平在口腔。to/tuː/可以弱读为/tə/。
复述：I've been waiting for him to call.
2. 连读+Flap T+失爆：but I，haven't heard，heard from
对话中：But I still haven't heard from him.
连读分析：当两个单词相邻时，前一个单词词尾是辅音，后一个单词开头是元音的时候，可以作辅元连读。比如这里的but I /bʌtaɪ/ (/t/是辅音，/aɪ/是元音)。
Flap T分析：连读基础之上，/t/在两个元音音标之间且非重读，所以/t/可以读为一个很轻的/d/, 可以读为/bʌdaɪ/。
失爆分析：当两个单词相邻时，前一个单词词尾是爆破音，后一个单词开头是辅音的时候，这时前面的爆破音不发出声音，稍作停顿。比如这里的 haven't heard /ˈhævnthɜːrd/ (/t/为爆破音，/h/为辅音)，heard from /hɜːrdfrɑːm/ (/t/为爆破音，/f/为辅音)。
复述：But I still haven't heard from him. Alright, let's take a look at some interesting words in our dialogue.
好的，让我们来看看我们对话中有趣的单词。
So, our first word - immature.
所以，第一个单词—— imature。
1. immature /ˌɪməˈtʃʊr/ adj. (行为)不成熟的，幼稚的
If you describe someone as immature, which means they behave in a childish way.
如果你描述一个人是immature，意思就是说他们表现地很孩子气，很幼稚。
例如：
immature behavior
不成熟的行为
Now, let's take a look at our next word – selfish.
现在，让我们来看看下一个单词——selfish。
2. selfish /ˈselfɪʃ/ adj.自私的
So, a selfish person is a person, who only thinks about themselves.
所以，一个自私的人是一个只考虑自己的人。
那我们刚才有讲到"immature behavior", 是指不成熟的行为，那也有"selfish behavior"，也就是自私的行为，这两种行为都是不好的行为，所以我们可以说：
Don't be so immature.
不要那么幼稚。
Don't be so selfish.
不要那么自私。
Okay, our last word for today - ruin.
好的，我们今天最后一个单词 —— ruin。
3. ruin /ˈruːɪn/ v. 毁坏
To ruin something means to destroy or spoil something.
毁坏某物就是指破坏，搞坏某物。
例如：
Bad news ruins your day.
坏消息毁了你的一天。
在dialogue里面Ronica说：
I've ruined everything.
我毁了一切。
这一句表达是很常见的，尤其是在表示自责的时候，可以用到这一句。
Okay, let's take a look at some of the phrases they used in the dialogue.
好的，让我们来看看对话中她们使用的一些短语。
The first phrase we have - cheat on.
我们第一个短语 —— cheat on。
1. cheat on 出轨
cheat on someone
背着某人出轨
So, cheating on someone are like breaking a promise by having a relationship with someone else, who's not your boyfriend or your husband, or your girlfriend or your wife.
所以，"cheating on someone" 就是表示你打破了你对另一半做出的承诺，和别人在一起。
But if I say "She cheated me",
但如果我说“她欺骗了我”，
That's different.
那是不一样的。
Maybe she sold you something for a really high price.
也许她卖给你的东西价格真的很高。
Or maybe she sold you something that was fake.
或者她卖给你的东西是假的。
So, "cheat on" is really different from "cheat".
所以，“出轨”跟“被骗”真的不一样。
Okay, and our next phrase – mess up.
好了，我们的下一个短语 —— mess up。
2. mess up 搞砸了
dialogue里面用的是“mess”的过去分词形式“messed”, 同时“mess”的过去式也是“messed”。(mess-messed-messed)
Okay, let's listen to some examples of how it's used.
好的，我们来听几个它如何使用的例子。
例1:
I messed up the entire project.
我搞砸了整个项目。
例2:
When I'm cooking I always mess up and burn the rice.
我做饭的时候总是把饭弄糊了。
So, let's move to our third phrase - Everything is going to work out just fine.
那么，我们现在来看第三个短语 —— Everything is going to work out just fine.
3. Everything is going to work out just fine.
一切都会很顺利的。
It means it's going to be okay.
意思就是会没事的。
The problem will be solved.
问题会解决的。
So, if somebody's worried or somebody is crying, you can say "Oh, don't worry, everything is going to work out just fine."
如果有人担心或者有人在哭你可以说“哦，别担心，一切都会很好的。”
Okay, what is our next phrase?
好的，我们下一个短语是什么呢？
4. Pull yourself together. 振作起来。
So, what does that mean, exactly?
那是什么意思呢？
It just means stop crying, relax, and you know, take a deep breath.
意味着停止哭泣，放松，你知道，深呼吸。
Just like calm down and get organized.
只是冷静下来，要有条理 。
在dialogue里面，Ronica的朋友对她说“Pull yourself together.”，振作起来。我们可以把这个表达用在劝自己的朋友的时候，那其实她的朋友还可以这样来说:
I hope she pulls herself together soon.
我希望她尽快振作起来。
Alright, and the last phrase that we saw – It's going to be alright.
好了，我们最后的短语 —— It's going to be alright.
5. It's going to be alright. 一切都会好起来的。 So, it's going to be alright means everything is going to be okay.
所以，一切都会好起来的意思是一切都会顺利。
It's going to be fine. The problem will go away.
一切都会好起来的。问题会消失的。
These are really helpful phrases that you can use when you wanna say something nice to a friend or a colleague, who has a problem.
这些是非常有用的短语，当你想对有问题的朋友或同事说些好话时，你就可以使用这些短语。
So, let's listen to some more examples.

例1:
Don't worry, everything is going to work out just fine. I'm sure he still loves you.
别担心，一切都会很顺利的，我相信他仍然爱你。
例2:
Everything is going be alright. We'll find your puppy. Don't worry!
