Teaching procedures Step 1 Warm up First,greet the class and find a student to match these phase s with their Chinese meanings.Explain some of them if necessary. Then invite a few students to play a little game.Whoever finishes it faster is the winner. Step 2 Lead-in 1. Show a short video an d let students have a free talk : What do you hope to do in the f uture? What do you want to be when you grow up? Why do you want t o do that? Give them enough time to think and then find a few stu dents to share their ideas. 2. Show some pictures about different jobs to help them understand. Step 3 Presentation 1. Give them a task to study by themselves. Pay attention to the key points.The n find some students to answer the questions. 2. Ask them to have a quick look at 1a and try to write about what they would like t o do in the future.Give some examples. 3. Have students work in p airs to talk about what they hope to do in the future like the sa mple conversation in1b. Do you know how to make your dream come t rue? Step 4 Listening and checking First, give students one minut e to read the instruction in 1c to know what to do . Try leading them to get information from the pictures. Then, listen to the ta pe.For the first time,students only listen.After that play it aga in, ask them to check the hopes. After finishing, check the answe rs with the class. Step5 Listening again and completing 1. Give t hem one minute to read the short passage in 1d. 2. Play the tape again and ask them to complete the answers according to the liste ning material. 3. Check the answers with the class. Step5 Prepari ng a speech Do you know what a speech is? Let’s watch some videos . Now can you prepare a speech for your graduation?. Use the ques tions to help you. First of all we''ll translate the sentences. Ho w have you changed since you started junior high school? Who has helped you most? What advice have your parents given you? What wi ll you do after you graduate? What are you looking forward to? VI .Explaining the key points First, summarize the key points in thi s class and explain them. Then, have students do some exercises f or consolidation. Give them several minutes and then check the an swers by asking some students. VII.Summary Help students sum up t he special usages of the comparatives with adjectives and adverbs . Ask them to make sentences to practice the structures.
