Montana Tech’s DRAFT Strategic Plan & Mission Statement
A Philosophy of Excellence
DRAFT Mission Statement:
Montana Tech through exemplary undergraduate and graduate education, workforce development,
research, and service builds on a strong heritage in engineering, science, and technology that blends
theory with practice in meeting the changing needs of society and the responsible development and
use of natural resources.
Note – This evolving draft Strategic Plan is at a very early stage in which ideas for what should be
in the Strategic Plan are being solicited from a wide spectrum of stakeholders. This stage is
important as it provides an opportunity for all stakeholders to contribute ideas to the plan. It will be
the task of the Strategic Planning Committee aided by other key individuals to make sense of this
input and identify the final feasible strategic directions that the campus will ultimately pursue.
Implementation, timelines, costs, responsible parties, benchmarks, and assessment will ultimately
also be addressed by the Strategic Planning Committee.
