Chinese social media observers have united in berating the husband, with one person saying, 'What a scumbag. Divorce him, now! Don't even hesitate for a minute.' Others have pointed out the lack of an effective mechanism to protect Chinese women from verbal domestic abuse. While the incident is shocking, it is unfortunately not uncommon in China, where domestic violence is a widespread problem. According to a report by the All-China Women's Federation, one in four women in China has experienced domestic violence in her lifetime. However, the issue is often overlooked or ignored, with many women feeling that they have nowhere to turn for help. The incident has also highlighted the lack of support and education for new mothers in China. Breastfeeding is a complex issue that requires education and support, and many new mothers in China do not have access to the information and resources they need to breastfeed successfully.
