Selecting the correct type of paper For high quality printing, it is important to select the correct type of paper. Be sure to read the information about acceptable paper before buying paper, and to determine the printable area depending on the settings in the printer driver. Simultaneous printing, scanning and faxing Your machine can print from your computer while sending or receiving a fax in memory or while scanning a document into the computer. Fax sending will not be stopped during printing from your computer. Make sure you have loaded the correct media in the paper tray. For best results, use Brother Paper. When you print on Brother Photo paper, load one extra sheet of the same photo paper in the paper tray. An extra sheet has been included in the paper package for this purpose. IMPORTANT Click the Media Type drop-down list, and then select the type of paper you are using. IMPORTANT To get the best print quality for the settings you have selected, always set the Media Type option to match the type of paper you load. Click the Paper Size drop-down list, and then select your paper size. Select the Borderless check box, if needed. For Color Mode, select Natural. Click the Portrait or Landscape option to set the orientation of your printout. If your application software contains a similar layout feature, we recommend using the one in the application. To print only some pages, clear the check boxes for the pages you do not want to print. If the 2-sided / Booklet setting is selected in the printer driver, you cannot select the Print Page check box. When printing your photos without borders, the image data is created slightly larger than the paper size you are using. This will cause some cropping of the photo edges. The printer driver window appears. Click the Paper Size drop-down list, and then select your paper size. Select the Borderless check box. For some combinations of media type and quality, the Borderless setting may not be available. It may also be unavailable from some applications. Change other printer settings if needed. Click OK. If the Collate check box is not selected, then each page will be printed according to the number of copies chosen before the next page of the document is printed. Fast The fastest print mode and the lowest amount of ink used. Use for printing large volume documents or documents for proofing. The available quality selections will vary depending on the media type you select. Tray2 The machine will exclusively use tray #2 when printing. MP Tray The machine will exclusively use the Multi-purpose Tray when printing. The available trays will vary depending on your model. Lighting, camera settings and other influences will affect the appearance of white. The white areas of a picture may be slightly pink, yellow, or some other color. By adjusting the white balance, you can adjust those white areas. Brightness Adjusts the brightness of the whole image. To lighten or darken the image, move the slider to the right or left. Contrast Adjusts the contrast of an image. This will make dark areas darker and light areas lighter. Increase the contrast when you want an image to be clearer. Decrease the contrast when you want an image to be more subdued. Red Adjusts the intensity of red in the image to make an image appear more red or less red. Green Adjusts the intensity of green in the image to make an image appear more green or less green. Blue Adjusts the intensity of blue in the image to make an image appear more blue or less blue. Change other printer settings if needed. Click OK to return to the printer driver window. Click OK. When the check box is cleared, the print head prints in only one direction, resulting in higher quality printouts but causing slower print speeds. If you encounter this problem, turn off the Bi-Directional Printing feature. Select the print command in your application.
