本段如果有了解新闻背景就不难理解。 但里面有几个词可以着重看看。 Read, blanket, spare是非常常见的几个单词，相信很多同学都认识。 但在这里它们的意思又并非我们常见的含义或词性。 如read 不是阅读；blanket 不是毯子；spare不是空闲的。 plume （尤指污染物）一团物质 ① read这里的含义为“写着”。
② blanket 这里词性变为动词，意为（像毯子一样盖着）“笼罩、覆盖’”。
③ spare 使免遭，使不受损害。
