在《X战警3》里有这样一句台词：

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

hath 是 has 的古体，scorn 为"轻蔑(拒绝)，鄙视"之意，意思同于 slight (轻视)，ridicule (嘲弄)，spurn (唾弃)等单词。

scorned 是过去分词作后置定语，表示"被拒绝的"，a woman scorned 就表示"一个被(男人)拒绝的女人"。

那么，Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned 字面是"即便是地狱，也没有像被抛弃的女人那样的怒火"，换句话说，就是"惹谁都可以，千万别惹被抛弃的女人"。

这句话出自1696年英国戏剧家 Colley Cibber 的戏剧 Love's Last Shift，原句为：

He shall find no fiend in Hell can match the fury of a disappointed woman. (fiend：恶魔)

后来，这句话不单单指女人，也可以用于其他人，如：

The company might think nothing of our request, but we'll show them that Hell hath no fury like broke employees scorned.

公司不管我们的诉求，我们会证明给他们看，惹谁可以，别惹身无分文的员工！

再后来，scorned 也可以省去，直接接上你想说的人即可：

他们二话不说，轻蔑的拒绝了我的邀请。
