（一）定义

英语中的数词主要分为基数词（Cardinal numbers）和序数词（Ordinal numbers）两大类。

基数词主要用来表示数量多少，序数词主要用来表示顺序先后。

（二）基数词

1、数量单位

英语中常见的数量单位有：hundred, thousand, million, billion。

2、数字的读法

英语中的数字一般每三位一读，如：

1,234,567,890

这个数字读作：

one billion

two hundred and thirty-four million

five hundred and sixty-seven thousand

eight hundred and ninety

3、概数和确数

概数是指笼统的数量表达，而确数是指具体准确的数量表达。如：

概数：hundreds of students, millions of stars

确数：five hundred students, two million stars

（三）序数词

英语中的序数词的单词主要如下：

first（第一），second（第二），third（第三）

fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth

eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, ..., twentieth

twenty-first, ..., twenty-ninth, thirtieth

其中，第一、第二和第三比较特别，从第四开始，都是用词尾-th来表达，要注意第五（fifth）、第八（eighth）、第九（ninth）和第十二（twelfth）的拼写，也要注意第整十数的拼写，如twentieth，即把y改为ie，再加上th。

（四）年份的表达

英语中的年份一般是两位两位一读，如：

1927

nineteen twenty-seven

注意一些特殊年份的读法，如：

1900

nineteen hundred

1908

nineteen /əʊ/ eight （数字0读作字母o的发音）

【注意】

年代的表达方式为：in the 1940s，其中年代必须采用整十数，读作：

in the nineteen forties

世纪的表达方式为：in the 21st century，读作：

in the twenty-first century

（五）小数和分数

英语中的小数，其整数部分按阿拉伯数字读，小数点部分逐个读出，小数点读作point，如：

534.678

five hundred and thirty-four point six seven eight

英语中的分数，分子为基数词，分母为序数词；当分子大于1时，分母要加s。如：

1/3

one third 或 one-third

7/8

seven eighths 或 seven-eighths

（六）其他

电话号码，一般都是逐个读出，其中数字0一般读作字母o的发音。如：

15217820522

one five two one seven eight two /əʊ/ five two two

日期，用序数词表达，前面一般会有定冠词the，但可以不写出，如：

9月7日

September 7th

September the seventh

门牌号，一般用基数词表达，如：

505房间

Room 505

Room five /əʊ/ five
