Enough是英语学习中一个很常用的单词，但却很容易用错。今天我们就其词性方面来理清它的用法。 enough一般有四种词性，分别为enough作名词、代词，形容词、副词： 一、作名词 通常指不可数名词： You've been practicing the violin all afternoon. Enough! 你整个下午都在练小提琴。够了! Enough has been said on this subject. 关于这一问题说得已经足够多的了。 二、作代词 代替可数名词或不可数名词： We've had enough of your coldness. 我们已经受够了你的冷漠。 注：当enough后的名词前有冠词、形容词性物主代词、指示代词或其本身就是代词时，要用介词of： The exam was bad. I couldn’t answer enough of the questions. 考试糟透了，我都没有答完题。 All parents worry about whether their child is getting enough of the right foods. 所有的父母都担心他们的孩子是否得到了足够的合理的食物。 The food may get a bit monotonous, but there'll be enough of it. 饭菜可能会有些单一，但管够。 I'd had enough of academic life. 学生生活我已经过够了。 I've had enough of your lies. 我已经听够了你的谎言。 Her millions of fans can’t get enough of her. 她的无数崇拜者对她如痴如狂。 三、作形容词 作定语置于被修饰的名词前后均可，前置时强调enough，后置时强调被修饰词： There was food enough for all./ There was food enough for all. 所有人都有足够的食物。 We haven’t got big enough chairs. 我们没有足够大的椅子。 (: We need bigger chairs.) We haven’t got enough big chairs. 我们没有足够多的大椅子。 (: we need more big chairs.) 四、作副词 置于被修饰的形容词或副词后，常与不定式或介词for连用， He seemed pleasant enough to me. 他对我似乎已相当和气了。 We didn't leave early enough. 我们离开得不够早。 She's old enough to decide for herself. 她已到自己作决定的年龄了。 When they reached the burning building they found that their ladders were not long enough to reach the people who were trapped. 当他们靠近烈火熊熊的大楼时，他们发现梯子不够长，够不着那些被火围困的人。 I have enough money for this house. 我的钱够买这栋房子。 He spoke slowly enough for me to understand. 他说得很慢，我能听得懂。 This emerging model is now big and disruptive (颠覆性的) enough for regulators and companies to have woken up to it. 这种新兴模式现在规模庞大，具有颠覆性，足以让监管机构和企业意识到这一点。 注： cannot...+…enough"再……也不过分;越……越……"。 I cannot thank you enough/ too much. 我对你感激不尽。 I can't stress enough that this strategy should be brief and simple. 我再充分不过地强调此策略应该非常简短和简单。 五、作插入语 He said he would come, and sure enough he came. 他说要来，果然来了。 Strangely enough, the last thing he thought of was his beloved Tanya... 说来也怪，他最后想到的才是他心爱的塔尼娅。 Her latest conquest is an Italian who, interestingly enough, doesn't speak a word of his native language. 她新搭上了个意大利人。有意思的是，那个人一句意大利语都不会说。 六、短语 1. well enough 还不错; 还可以; 相当; 很; 极。 You know well enough. (口)你明明知道。 2. be good / kind enough to do sth. 劳驾; 务请做某事。 Be good/ kind enough to reply early. 请早日赐复。 3.have had enough (of…)受够了 Cut it out. I have had enough. 别说了，我受够了。／烦透了，别再讲了。 4. Fair enough. 可以接受。／说的也对。 "I can't come because I'm working late.＂ ＂Fair enough. " 我工作到很晚，没办法去。”。“也对。” 5. You are enough. 你已经够好了。 You Are Enough. You shouldn't have to prove it to anyone. 你已经够好，不必再向任何人证明。 6. Enough is enough. 够了，行了，适可而止 Enough is enough - I don't want to argue with you anymore. 好了好了，我不想再跟你争了。 7. Enough said. 不必再讲，无需多说 "Someone has to explain the situation to her." "Enough said." “ 必需有人向她说明一下情况。”“已经说得够多了。” 8. That's enough. 不要那样，够了（制止不好的行为） That's enough, Peter. Give those toys back, please. 够了，彼得。把那些玩具还回去，听话。 9.我的词汇量不够。 （Ｘ）My vocabulary is not enough. （Ｏ）My vocabulary is limited/weak. 注：只要是主词不带有“数量”含意，就不能用enough，因为这样太含糊： 5个人就够了。 Five men will be quite enough. 美国人觉得一百万退休存款就够了。 Americans think that $1 million in retirement savings will be enough. |
