Is Forrest Gump stupid?
Physically,he’s stupid——his IQ is only 75.But psychologically,he sees the world for clearer than most.he’s a fool with wit.
When he was a child,he was bullied by other boys.his only friend Jenny told him to run,and so he did.Fortunately,he had a talent in running,so he “ran”into a famous college which he wasn’t supposed to enter.
He listened to orders ,therefore,he became a soldier and he was good at it.He had had a lot of professions,ping-pong player,shrimper,boss,runner,etc.He’s a so-called successful man.
But he cannot forget Jenny.He loves Jenny but Jenny doesn’t love him.Jenny is the only girl who’s in his heart.
You can say he’s foolish but through his innocent,childlike eyes,we see things in a less confused and muddled way,as Jenny asked him,what are you going to be?He was confused,ain’t I going to be me?
He’s a philosopher,believe in yourself,be true to yourself ,and to be yourself.
I’d like to call him the “wise fool”.
All in all, I love this line,
Life was like a box of chocolates,you never know what you’re gonna get.
