ABSTRACT Mao Ting Ke Hua, which is written by Huang Xiufu, a non-official scholar in the Five Dynasties, belongs to the classical Chinese literary sketches. As a native of Sichuan Province, Huang Xiufu was a witness to the history of this place during the Five Dynasties. Having been highly cultivated by the Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism, he held keen interest and great perception in art. Since the elaborate depictions in Mao Ting Ke Hua has provided great literature value for the historical and cultural studies on Sichuang Province, this thesis intends to conduct an intensive research on Huang Xiufu and the book.
