摄影是一个需要有激情来支持的行为，比方说喜欢风光大片的会不辞辛劳的跋山涉水跑到千里之外的地方拍摄风光大片，打鸟的会不惜购买昂贵的器材，为拍到树梢上的小鸟。

同时这些又必须是亲历亲为，你不可能让别人为你按下快门。当然有钱的可以让别人为你扛着器材，但是你也得去按一下快门。

几年前就是因为上海这座城市的飞速变化促使我有这份激情去尽量记录下它的变迁过程，如今被称之为“旧改”的项目已经推进到2000年后的建筑，我自叹追赶的速度远远的超过了我个人的能力，同时那些毫无个性化的建筑不记录也罢。

现在还是翻点原来拍摄过的内容，这也是我对原来拍摄的一点回顾，也让大家看看那些已经土地征收的区域原来是啥样子。

梧桐路对于不是居住在小东门范围的上海人来说是一个陌生的地方，你就是知道它与豫园一墙之隔，也不会走过去看看，其实这里面的历史渊源极为深厚，这里有上海最早的天主教堂，它与徐光启家族有关，也与四川南路的洋泾浜圣若瑟堂、董家渡天主堂的来源有关。

这又曾经是一个居住密度极高的社区，市井气息极浓。是一个值得摄影师流连忘返的所在。

如今这里人去楼空好几年了，据说豫园集团的开发规划已经出来了，就等着资金到位大展宏图。

摄影人能够做到的就是留下这个区域曾经的状态，记录这一段曾经的记忆。

The Nocturnal Charm of Wutong Road

Photography is an endeavor fueled by passion. Those drawn to capturing grand landscapes will traverse mountains and rivers tirelessly to shoot breathtaking scenes, while bird watchers spare no expense on high-end equipment to capture the flutter of a bird perched atop a tree.

This passion demands firsthand experience; one cannot simply delegate the task of pressing the shutter button to another. While those with means may have someone carry their equipment, they must still press the shutter themselves.

Several years ago, the rapid transformation of Shanghai spurred my passion to meticulously document its evolution. The urban renewal projects, now known as "old renovation," have advanced to buildings constructed after the year 2000. I lament that my pursuit to keep pace far exceeds my personal capabilities, yet I cannot ignore these characterless structures.

Presently, I revisit past photographic content, offering a retrospective glimpse into my previous work. It allows viewers to witness the original appearance of areas that have since been acquired for land development.

For many Shanghai residents residing beyond the vicinity of Xiaodongmen, Wutong Road remains an unfamiliar locale. Even if one is aware of its proximity to the Yuyuan Garden, they may not venture there. However, the historical roots of this place run deep, boasting Shanghai's earliest Catholic church linked to the Xu Guangqi family and intertwined with the origins of St. Joseph's Church in Yangjingbang on Sichuan South Road and Dongjiadu Cathedral.

Once a densely populated community exuding a vibrant local atmosphere, Wutong Road was a photographer's haven, captivating and immersive.

Today, this area has remained desolate for several years. Rumor has it that the development plans by the Yuyuan Group have been unveiled, eagerly awaiting the necessary funding to unveil their grand vision.
