A coastal home by Madeleine Blanchfield Architects is a meditative oasis designed to nurture the evolving journey of a young family.

Positioned in one of Sydney’s most secluded beachside locations, Madeleine Blanchfield Architects have designed a Clovelly home to serve the needs of a growing family. The architect, known for her signature refined and restrained aesthetic, has applied the same design codes to this home to create an equally meditative and practical sanctuary. “We treat each project as an opportunity to showcase the client’s personality and character,” Madeliene says of her studio’s approach. “Our work strives to be timeless and elegant, refined and thoughtful.”   Inspired by the concept of 'barefoot meandering’ as the project’s name denotes, it was designed to embrace the family’s journey around the treasured moments of pitter-patter footsteps. The notion of wandering is illustrated from the moment one arrives at the home, as a curved path leads around an arc before arriving at a courtyard. This is intended to forge the family’s privacy and seclusion from the active walkway that leads beachgoers to Gordon’s Bay.
The residential project is designed with three courtyards as the core, aiming to ensure that every room can coexist harmoniously with the natural environment. The courtyards not only add unique visual beauty to the entire residence but also make people feel as if they are in a seaside environment, bringing a different living experience. According to the designer Madeleine, the clever integration of the courtyards is exactly the design goal she strives to achieve in every residential project. She emphasizes that the creation of light, space, and extraordinary feelings has always been the focus of the team's attention and has been fully reflected in this project. Meanwhile, the elegant fusion of landscape and interior design has created an ideal residence that is both eye-catching and understated. This design concept and practical achievement undoubtedly provide valuable references and inspirations for the professional architectural field.

The dining area features the De Le Espada Twenty-Five dining table and Elliot dining chair. 
The kitchen features the Hinterland bar stools by Daniel Boddam tucked under the American oak kitchen island, white cabinetry and Glacier White Corian benchtops.
Sensibly designed to appreciate its coastal surroundings, Barefoot House is timelessly uncomplicated and enduring. It provides a calm haven to nurture the needs of a young family to grow and evolve and, importantly, create their own memories. The main bathroom features OnSite Supply & Design glazed natural terracotta wall tiles and natural terracotta brick floor tiles.
