完形填空

完形填空也是测试综合语言能力的题型。它不同于单句填空,要求从单句理解水平提高到语篇的理解水平。这就是说,考生不但要有相当的语法、词汇知识及其运用能力,而且要具有一定的语篇分析能力,良好的语感和逻辑思维能力以及相对广泛的背景知识。



要点1了解完形填空答题要求

1)巩固、扎实、熟练的英语语法知识和丰富的英语词语知识;

2)文章阅读理解能力和技巧,特别是快速阅读理解能力;

3)扎实的英语词组、短语、惯用法等固定搭配的知识,特别是词语意义和语法辨析的能力;

4)逻辑思维能力,特别是理解文章的整体内容、主题思想的能力和推理判断的能力;

5)根据试题捕捉相关信息的能力。

要点3搭配关系和词语类型试题解析

搭配和词语类型试题是测试的重点。多数题目涉及到动词的语法和各种搭配关系,这是由动词在句子中的重要性所决定的。动词在搭配关系上与名词、介词、副词紧密相连。测度的范围较广,可以包括主谓搭配关系、动宾搭配关系、动词+介词、动词+副词构成的短语动词等。例如:

此例涉及动词与介词的固定搭配。B项正确,与题句的go连用,组成短语动词,其含义是“leaveone’shomeorplaceofworktotakeexercise,etc.”。

另外在考试中也常要测试同类词语的搭配关系。同类词语包括实意词和结构词。实意词指动词、名词、形容词和副词,结构词指介词。所提供的四个选项词性相同,在题句中所起的语法功能也一样,但在语意上和具体的语境中只有一项正确,这就要根据词的搭配关系来进行选择。又如:

四个选项都是介词,但能与空格后面的名词weather构成固定搭配词组的只有C项,其意义为“不舒服”,“有点小病”。

习语和近义词在测试中占有较大的比重,英语中有丰富的习语,它们言简意赅,表达生动,是掌握英语的关键之所在,也是测试的一项重要内容。

要点4语法型试题解析

语法型试题旨在考查考生正确运用语法知识的能力。掌握好基本语法知识,如时态、非谓语动词、情态动词的用法及各种句子的结构至为重要。

语法型试题测试重点是习惯用法和语法结构。

若选择项为同类语,它们通常是动词、代词、连词,测试的内容主要有:动词的各种不同时态和语态、代词的各种习惯用法、各种连词的语法功能等等。例如:

本题四个选项都是代词,在语法上都可做并列的主语。但furniture是个不可数名词,不能用复数来指代,可排除A,D两项。B项this指近在眼前的人或物,不能代替远处的“古旧家具”,只有C项it可用来代替前面提到过的东西。

语法型试题主要是根据与测试目标有关的结构信息词语来确定正误,结构信息词语是指题句中的时间状语、主句和从句谓语动词的时态、习惯用法等等,其具体步骤如下:

①根据选项的情况明确测试目标;

②寻找结构信息词语,如有必要,对题句进行语法分析;

③根据有关的信息词语和语法规则排除错误项。

要点5推断型试题解析

推断型试题主要测试考生的综合分析能力,测试内容包括篇章结构和推理判断能力,其选择项多是语篇连接词和以-ly结尾的方式副词和程度副词。语篇连接词语在文章中起承上启下的作用,因此正确项一定要结合上下文来考虑。

推断型题目只能根据语境信息来解答,步骤如下:

①根据选择项的特点,确定测试重点;

②仔细推敲上下文,弄清题目与上下文之间的内在逻辑关系;

③根据有关的语境现象或常识判断正确项。例如:

IwasdisappointedtofindthatIdidnotknowasinglepersonthere,soIfoundaseatinthecornerandsatwaiting.

正确选项是A项。根据题句信息词语“waiting”来推断,A用词最恰当,符合当时情景。

这些答案的选择,起关键作用的是短文上下文的关系。它对短文的理解是非常重要的。在“局部”(单从词汇或语法角度)来看是正确的东西,放在全局(从整个上下文关系)一看,则不一定是正确的。完形填空的这个特点,应引起我们的特别注意。



要点6比较判断法解析

有时,前面的空只凭借一个句子的内容很难做出正确的判断,在后面的句子结构中也许会出现同样的语言现象,这种语言现象便是我们要找的比较信息部分。了解比较信息部分的结构,能帮助我们找到前面对应结构中可能存在的答案。试分析下面这段话:

不难看出,”onlyonegood”是信息词,这里good由only限制,形成“绝对关系”,后面的部分绝不会与good词义相同或相近。所以空1应选择与good相反的词D项“evil”(邪恶的)。

跟在转折词namely后面的词的作用是补充说明前面的名词。既然good2修饰knowledge,那么与之相对应的evil的词语应是与knowledge相对应的反义词ignorance(无知)。

除了可以从相同的结构中比较外,利用转折词的功能进行比较也可作出正确的判断。

使用转折词时,应特别注意反义和比较、对比的词语。常见的这类词语有:though(虽然),atthesametime(同时),evenso(尽管如此),instead(此外),onthecontrary(恰恰相反),ontheotherhand(另一方面),similarly(同时)等等。通过这些词语的提示,我们可以判断它们后面的词、句子的关系。这种关系也许是趋向其他方面的转化,也许是与所描写的概念正好相反。



要点7排除错误法解析

当我们对正确答案没有把握或全然不知的时候,将错误的答案排除,剩下的便是正确答案。这种方法可用于完形填空题,亦可用于单项选择题。例如:
