WhentheholyBodhisattvaAvalokitesvarahadtrulygraspedthetranscendent
wisdom,herealizedthatvisibleformisonlyillusion.Thesameappliestoits
perception,toitsnamesandcategories,todiscriminativeintellectandfinally
eventoourconsciousness.Theyareallillusion.Withthisrealizatonhewas
beyondallsorrowandbitterness.
DiscipleSariputra!Thematerialisnotdifferentfromtheimmaterial.The
immaterialandthematerialareinfactoneandthesamething.Thesame
appliestoperception,concepts,discriminativethinkingandconsciousness.
Theyareneitherexistingnornotexisting.
Sariputra!Allthingsthereforetheyareinthemselvesnotgoodandnotbad,
theyarenotincreasingandnotdecreasing.
Thereforeonemaysaytherearenosuchthingsasform,perception,concepts,
thinkingprocess,andconsciousness.Oursensessuchaseye,ear,nose,tongue,
bodyandmindaremisleadingustoillusion;thusonemayalsosaythereisno
realityinvisibleform,sound,smell,taste,touchandmindknowledge.Thereare
alsonosuchthingsastherealmsofsensefromsightuptomind,andnosuch
thingsasthelinksofexistencefromignoranceanditsendtooldageanddeath
andtheirend.AlsotheFourNobleTruthsarenonexistent,justasthereisno
suchthingaswisdomandalsonogain.
BecausetheholyBodhisattvawhoreliesontranscendentwisdomknowsthat
thereisnogain,hehasnoworriesandalsonofear.Beyondallillusionhehas
reachedthespaceofhighestNirvana.
AllBuddhasofthepast,presentandfuture,foundhighestperfectknowedge
becausetheyreliedontranscendentalwisdom.
Thereforeweoughttoknowthatthegreatverseofthetranscendentwisdom
isunsurpassedinitssplendor,andthatitappeasestrulyallpain.Itreads:
GATE,GATE,PARAGATE,PARASAMGATEBODHISVAHA!
(Go,doit,makethestep,youallmustbreakthroughtotheAbsolute,then
youwillbeimmediatelyenlightened.)
FourNobleTruths:Lifemeanssuffering;Theoriginofsufferingisattachment;
Thecessationofsufferingisattainable;Thepathtothecessationofsuffering.
pain:Themoreappropriatewordmaybe"suffering".
