IhaveneverfeltmoreincompetentthanwhenIwaspreg-

nant.Iwasaboutfourmonthsalong,extremelyuncomfort-

able,andatworkwhenIstartedbleeding.Whenyouarea

blackwoman,havingabodyisalreadycomplicatedforwork-

placepolitics.Havingableeding,distendedbodyisespecially
