一、词语讲解
where
adv.在哪里，疑问词，用来引导特殊疑问句。并且where’s=whereis,例如：
Where’sthebaseball?棒球在哪儿？
Wheredoyoucomefrom?你来自哪里？

实义动词，意思是“需要”。“需要什么东西”，直接在need后面加上物品。“需要做什么事情”，则是needtodosth.例如：
Ineedalotofmoneynow.我现在需要很多的钱。
Youneedtogotohospitalatonce.你需要立刻去医院。
情态动词。作情态动词，必须和其它实义动词一起构成谓语。不可单独使用。需要注意need的否定形式是needn’t,意为“不必”。常用于“Must…”引导的一般疑问句的否定回答。例如：
WhatneedIdonow?我现在需要做什么？
----MustIdoitnow?我必需现在做吗？
----No,youneedn’t.不，你不必。
room
可数名词，房间，例如：
Youmustcleanyourroomthisafternoon.你今天必须打扫你的房间。
Ihaveabigandbrightroom.我有一个大而明亮的房间。
不可数名词，空间，例如：
Thereisnoenoughroomforsomanypeople.没有足够的空间容纳这么多人。
Pleasemakeroomfortheoldman.请让点地方给这位老人。
二、易混词辨析
hat与cap
hat是特指具有特定造型的顶和沿的头上的覆盖物，也就是有边有沿的帽子，比如礼帽。Cap是便帽，一种通常是柔软的和紧缩的头部遮盖物，无帽檐或有帽舌。
take与bring
take是表示把某物或某人从说话处“带到”或“拿到”别处去，常与to连用,有明显的方向性。例如：
Heoftentakeshissistertothepark.他带着他的妹妹去公园。
Bring指从另一处把某物“拿到”或把某人“带到”说话处。例如：
BringyourMP3toourschoolthisafternoon.下午把你的MP3带到学校来。
3．some与any
some和any作定语时，即可修饰可数名词，也可以修饰不可数名词。Some多用于肯定句，有“一些、若干”的意思。Any多用于否定句、疑问句或条件状语从句，有“什么、一些”的意思。如：
ThereIsatableandsomechairsinit.里面有一张桌子和几把椅子。
What’sinthisglass?There’ssomemilk.杯子里有什么呢？有一些牛奶。
Therearen’tanytreesbehindthehouse.房子后面没有树。
Isthereanybreadonthetable?桌子上有面包吗？
（2）some还可以用于单数名词前，表示未知或说话人一想特别说明的人、地、物等。意思是“某一、某个”，如：
Ihopegotothemoonsomeday.我希望有一天到月球去。
Heworksatsomeplaceinthesouth.他在南方某地工作。
（3）如果说话人表示“请求、提议”或“希望得到肯定回答”的意义时，some可以用于疑问句中，如：
Wouldyoulikesomebananas?来点香蕉好吗？
MayIaskyousomequestions,Mr.Green?我可以问您一些问题吗，格林先生？
（4）any用于肯定句修饰可数单数名词。不表示“一些”而表示“任何一”、“无论哪一个”之意，如：
Hecanfindworkinalmostanytown.几乎在任何一个城镇他都能找到工作。
（5）在条件状语从句中，多用any，表示“一些、任何”的意思，如：
Ifyouwantanyhelp,letmeknow.如果你需要帮助，请告诉我。
4．desk与table
deskn.书桌；写字台；办公桌。通常用于学习、工作中。如：
Thereare50desksinourclassroom.我们教室里有50张课桌。
tablen.桌子；台子；餐桌。通常用于日常生活中。如：
Thereisabigtableinmybedroom.我的卧室有一张大桌子。
三、单元要点透视
Where’smybackpack?我的背包在哪儿？
It’sunderthetable.在桌子底下。
当询问某物或某人在哪里时用Whereis…?或Whereare…?Where一词意为“哪里”是询问地点的疑问词，放在句首，就地点提问；回答也应用地点来回答，其答语应是It’s或They’re+表示地点的词。如：
Whereismybook?我的书在哪？
It’shere.在这儿。
Wherearemybooks?我的书在哪儿？
They’rethere.它们在那儿。
注意：where后用is还是用are,取决于后面的主语，主语是复数，如mybooks,where后用are;主语是单数，如：mybackpack,where后面用is.
Where’smybaseball?我的棒球在哪里？
It’sinthebackpack.在背包里。

onthesofa在沙发上

知识拓展：
in,at,on,under等是介词短语，在句中作表语、状语、定语、补语。
In表示“在……中”
inourclass在我们班。
inthecar在小汽车里
On表示在“在……上”在一个上面。如：
ontheball在墙上
onthedesk.在书桌上
ontheblackboard.在黑板上。
Under表示“在……下”如：
underthechair在椅子下
underherbed在她的床下
3．Idon’tknow.我不知道。
当对方的问题自己不清楚、不理解或不明白的时候，常常使用这个句子。相同的用法还有：Ihavenoidea.例如：
----CanyoutellmehowtogettoBeijingZoo?请问到北京动物园怎么走？
----Sorry,Idon’tknow.很抱歉，我不知道。
know
v.意为“知道、懂得、了解、认识”例如：
Shedoesn’tknowyouraddress.她不知道你的地址。
DoyouknowBob?你认识鲍勃吗？
Do是助动词，本身没有意义，它和not构成否定，用来否定一个实意动词，donot的缩写为don’t,助动词do放在主语前面可用来对一个实意动词提出疑问。连系动词be(am,is,are)的否定不一样，连系动词的否定是在后面直接加not，变疑问句时把连系动词直接放在主语的前面。
说Idon’tknow.时常在前面加上sorry或Iamsorry.
Here’sthenotebook?笔记本在哪儿？
It’sonthebed.它在床上。
onthebed在床上，指某东西在床上，
inbed卧床，指人因病或卧床休息。在此情况下的bed前没有the或a.

takesth/sbtosp把sth/sb带到sp.如：
I’lltakeittoyoursister.我将把它带给你姐姐。
Pleasetakethechildrentothezoo.请把孩子们带到动物园。
Canyoubringsomethingstoschool?你可以把一些物品带到学校来吗？
can是一个情态动词，放在句首，可以构成一般疑问句，用来询问某人是否可以干某事，也可以表示请求对方允许。如：
CanyouanswermyquestioninEnglish?你能用英语回答我的问题吗？
CanIaskyouaquestion?我可以问你一个问题。
Ican’treadit.我不会读这个。
注意：can加not构成否定句，缩写为can’t或cannot.
bringsth/sbtosp.带sth/sb到sp来
bringsth/sbtosb.拿(带)sth/sb给sb.例如：
WhatcanIbringtoyou?我可以拿什么给你？
BringyourMP3toschool.把你的MP3拿到学校。
Hereismyroom.这儿是我的房间。
Here是一个副词，意思是“在这里，这儿”。Here放在句首，使句子倒装；主语是myroom,is是系动词，here作表语。
