Objective: Toevaluatetheamountofvariationthemeasurementsystemcontributestotheoverallprocess.



Terminology

ObservedValue:Themastervalueofthepartsyouareinspectingandanymeasurementerror.

ObservedVariability:Thevariabilityinthepartsyouaremeasuringandanymeasurementvariability.

GaugeRepeatability:Thevariationinthemeasurementsobtainedwhenoneoperatorusesthesamegaugeformeasuringtheidenticalcharacteristicsofthesameparts.

GaugeReproducibility:Thevariationintheaverageofmeasurementsmadebydifferentoperatorsusingthesamegaugewhenmeasuringidenticalcharacteristicsofthesameparts.





GaugeR&RMethod:



Randomlyselectsamplesrepresentingatleast80%oftotalprocessrange.



CalibratetheGauge,orensurethatithasbeencalibrated.



SetuptheMinitabWorksheetfortheGageR&Rstudy.
