CompensationWeexpectmanufacturerstorecognizethatwagesareessentialtomeeting
employees’basicneeds.Manufacturerswill,ataminimum,complywith
allapplicablewageandhourlawsandregulations,includingthose
relatingtominimumwages,overtime,maximumhours,pieceratesand
otherelementsofcompensation,andprovidelegallymandatedbenefits.
Exceptinextraordinarybusinesscircumstances,manufacturerswillnot
requireemployeestoworkmorethanthelesserof(a)48hoursperweek
and12hoursovertimeor(b)thelimitsonregularandovertimehours
allowedbylocallawor,wherelocallawdoesnotlimitthehoursofwork,
theregularworkweekplus12hoursovertime.Inaddition,exceptin
extraordinarybusinesscircumstances,employeeswillbeentitledtoat
leastonedayoffineveryseven-dayperiod.
Manufacturerswillcompensateemployeesforovertimehoursatsuch
premiumrateasislegallyrequiredor,ifthereisnolegallyprescribed
premiumrate,atarateatleastequaltotheregularhourlycompensation
rate.
Wherelocalindustrystandardsarehigherthanapplicablelegal
requirements,weexpectmanufacturerstomeetthehigherstandards.
ProtectionoftheEnvironmentManufacturerswillcomplywithallapplicableenvironmentallawsand
regulations.
OtherLawsManufacturerswillcomplywithallapplicablelawsandregulations,
includingthosepertainingtothemanufacture,pricing,saleand
distributionofmerchandise.Allreferencesto“applicablelawsand
regulations”inthisCodeofConductincludelocalandnationalcodes,
rulesandregulationsaswellasapplicabletreatiesandvoluntaryindustry
standards.
ManufacturerswillnotusesubcontractorsforthemanufactureofDisney
Subcontracting
merchandiseorcomponentsthereofwithoutDisney’sexpresswritten
consent,andonlyafterthesubcontractorhasenteredintoawritten
commitmentwithDisneytocomplywiththisCodeofConduct.
ManufacturerswillauthorizeDisneyanditsdesignatedagents(including
MonitoringandCompliance
thirdparties)toengageinmonitoringactivitiestoconfirmcompliance
withthisCodeofConduct,includingunannouncedon-siteinspectionsof
manufacturingfacilitiesandemployer-providedhousing;reviewsof
booksandrecordsrelatingtoemploymentmatters;andprivateinterviews
withemployees.Manufacturerswillmaintainonsitealldocumentation
thatmaybeneededtodemonstratecompliancewiththisCodeof
Conduct.
PublicationManufacturerswilltakeappropriatestepstoensurethattheprovisionsof
thisCodeofConductarecommunicatedtoemployees,includingthe
prominentpostingofacopyofthisCodeofConduct,inthelocal
languageandinaplacereadilyaccessibletoemployees,atalltimes.
