n recent years, music has been a multibillion dollar industry offering career
opportunities to thousands of people. There are many music-related opportunities
in industries such as entertainment, healthcare, education, radio and television, and
business. Music majors can work in songwriting, teaching, booking agencies, and music
stores, and become performers, disc jockeys, sound and audio technicians, and instrument
repairers, to name a few. Wherever your interests and fortes lie within the field of music,
there are sure to be many career opportunities for you.
An increasing interest and demand for music therapy has created important and significant
employment opportunities for music therapists. As the focus of rehabilitation and healthcare
services adapt and shift to meet changing consumer demand, music therapists are finding
challenging and rewarding work in community organizations, medical and mental health
settings, rehabilitation programs, schools, hospices, and by providing contract services
through sole proprietorships, limited liability corporations, or not-for-profit organizations.
A bachelor’s degree in music therapy is the entry level degree for this exciting, stimulating

he mission of the School of Music is to provide education in music with an
emphasis on traditional academic disciplines, combined with the
development of personal performance skills, all within the setting of a liberal arts
institution. The School of Music offers the Bachelor of Arts in music with emphases in
composition, music education, music therapy, and performance (conducting,
instrumental, and vocal). Furthermore, the goal of the School of Music is to enrich the
artistic atmosphere of the campus and community and to provide opportunities for
creative and scholarly excellence.

The 118-member university choir is a select group chosen from students thoughout
the univeristy and is open to non-majors by audition.

The Chapman University Singers regularly performs outstanding literature for
chamber choir from every musical period. The ensemble is open to non-majors by
audition.
The Wind Ensemble Dr. Robert Frelly (714) 991-6917
The Wind Symphony has earned a reputation for its breadth of musicality and
consistently high level of performance. Goals of the Wind Symphony include the
devleopment of musical expression, and individual and ensemble skills though the
identification, rehearsal and performance of the finest wind literature.

provides experiences that amplify the understanding and appreciation of music
therapy.

If you are looking to pursue a career in music, it is a good idea to get involved with one of the on-campus choirs or performance groups,
attend local musical performances, and perfect your musical talent through practice and class participation. A combination of a college
