Gunmen kidnapped an old Chinese-Filipino trader on Sunday in the restive southern Philippines, the military said.
The victim, Rodolfo Chio, 70, was taken by armed men at around 5:00 p.m. from his residence in the town of Datu Piang in Maguindanao region, said local Army spokesman Benjamin Hao. Hao said Chio was forced at gunpoint into a green van by the abductors clad in fatigue uniforms and T-shirts printed with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. "We have launched a search and rescue operation. We alerted our troops," Hao said. No group claimed responsibility for the latest kidnapping. Last month, gunmen seized a Chinese Filipino trader in Cotabato City and killed a family driver and security personnel. Source:Xinhua
