Erdos Museum is located in the new city centre of Erdos. Driven by a booming economy, the Municipal Government of Erdos was determined to create this new centre, dozens of kilometers away from the current city centre, on a site that until recently was nothing but the Gobi Desert. The urban masterplan projected a symbolic but empty image, one that fulfilled the wishes of the government but showed no real consideration for the urban space.
The museum was conceived as a reaction to this city plan. It takes the form of a natural, irregular nucleus, wrapped in polished metal louvers in an attempt to reflect and fragment the planned surroundings. This shell will enclose and nurture a new, incubated landscape, one that stands in contrast to the surrounding urban reality.
The interior is divided into several exhibition halls delineated by continuous curvilinear walls, all opening onto a shared public corridor that runs through the museum. The glazed roof draws light into the interior, which is then channeled through the building by the luminescent walls, while the louvers allow for natural ventilation. This new space will be a bright, tranquil and fluid environment, and provide visitors with a completely different atmosphere to that which they experience outside.

鄂尔多斯博物馆坐落在鄂尔多斯的新城区。随着当地经济的迅速发展，政府决定在数十公里之外的戈壁滩上重新建造一个新的城市中心区。新城建设依照一个被命名为“草原上升起不落的太阳”的总体规划进行，一个由空荡的城市中心广场发散出的一系列象征阳光四射的绿化景观，构成了一幅对政府行为心领神会的壮观图像，而对城市生活没有任何深入考虑的低级设计。
博物馆以不规则的、由抛光金属百叶缠绕而成的壳体对这样的城市规划作出回应。周围的城市景观在博物馆的表皮上被消解成为无意义的碎片图像，而在这个现代金属穹隆之内，则是一个被天窗过滤后的光线所笼罩着的，纯净而宁静的流动室内世界。
数个展览空间被位于中央的公共空间所连接。不同层高的交通流线在光洁的白色连续表皮上穿梭，连同从天窗进入室内的光线，以及从金属百叶表皮过滤后透入的空气，将使置身于其中的人们感受到了与外部环境截然不同的气氛。
