(American politics):

例如:

Many American politicians say that serving their country and its people is the single greatest honor and privilege they can ask for; they do not choose a career in public service for the money.

It is said that a politician usually only worries about the next election whereas a statesman worries about the next generation.

American people expect a public figure to be a nearly-perfect individual as a role model for other citizens.

Someone once said, "The statesman shears the sheep, but the politician skins them."

Some politicians are experts at making promises, then their short-term memory kicks in.

(to kick in = to start or to begin)

American officials always believe in one principle: united we stand, divided we fall.

(也可說:we stand united ; we fall divided.)

Some Americans have said that politics is the art of the possible.

Politics is the art of a compromise.

To train and cultivate well-rounded future leaders in every field, Americans start from childhood to emphasize a person's honesty and service attitude to others.

Many people feel that corporations run the U.S., not the government.

Generally speaking, American people care much more about a politician's character, personality and service to others rather than his / her academic degrees.

The U.S. Government is trying to become color-blind, ethnic-blind and religious-blind, and to pass appropriate laws for the good of the country and its people.

Abraham Lincoln once said, "As I would not be a slave, so I would not be a master. This expresses my idea of democracy."

American government has very strict laws in preventing public figures from accepting bribes and abusing privileges.

In Americans' eyes, citizens obeying the laws is the solid foundation of democracy and freedom.

Some people may shout, "Mr. politician, stop being self-serving and arrogant; don't forget about those you serve."

American people always pride themselves in being all-time law-abiding and patriotic citizens.

For many people, treating all nations with respect and fairness without interfering in their internal affairs is the best way to keep world peace.

Woodrow Wilson once said, "No nation is fit to sit in judgment upon any other nation."

The U.S. President is expected to have the demonstrated ability, integrity and sufficient experience needed to bring his / her country through all challenges it faces.

(it 指美國)
