resemble “相似”、“相像”,指两人或两事物的外貌或性质有相同之处。非正式英语中常用 take after。 1) The two boys resemble (take after) each other in that they both have fair hair and round face. (这两个男孩彼此很像对方,他们都有金色的头发,白皙的圆脸。) 2) One of the most striking ways in which the chimpanzee biologically resembles man lies in the structure of his brain. (黑猩猩像在生物学上像人类,最令人惊奇之处在于其大脑结构。) resemblance likeness similarity 这三个名词有“相似”、“ 相像”的意思。resemblance 用法同动词,其后常接介词 to。 likeness 词义范围较广,可指任何程度的相似或类似,相似度较大,有时可与resemblance 换用。 similarity 用法同其形容词similar,侧重指有相似之处,但相似程度一般较小。 1) There is not the slightest resemblance/likeness between the two brothers though born of the same parents.
