Mr. Qian has been building boat model for more than thirty years. The making of the Zhoushan boat model adopts roughly the same technology used to make a real wooden boat. As the fast development of recent ship manufacturing industry, most of the transportation and fishing boats are made of steel, with the heaviest one weighing hundreds of thousands of tons. Making wooden boat has become very rare. In 2009, Mr. Qian's Zhoushan boat model technology has been listed as intangible cultural heritage of Zhoushan local government.
