本次教学，围绕 but 展开，练习之前，让孩子看下面的句子：
① The bird is injured.
（鸟儿受伤了。）
② The bird can fly. （鸟儿能飞起来。）
妈妈问孩子：鸟儿受伤了，还能飞吗？
孩子回答说：不能飞吧。
妈妈说：这只鸟儿受伤了，但是呢，这只鸟还能飞起来。英文有一个词，就叫“但是（but）”
妈妈接着说：我们可以把这两句话，用 but 连起来。
妈妈一边说，一边在纸上写：
The bird is injured + but + the bird
can fly = The bird is injured but the bird can
fly.
写完之后，妈妈问孩子：找找看，这句话里，哪两个词是重复的？
孩子说：the bird 是重复的。
妈妈说：英语不喜欢重复，所以咱们把这句话改成：
The bird is injured but it can fly.
妈妈用荧光笔，把句子里的“The bird”和“but it”涂上颜色。妈妈提醒孩子，后半句的“it”，就是代替前半句的“The
bird”。
开始练习之前，妈妈可以提醒孩子说：今天，我们练习用“但是（but）”，把 2
个句子合并到一起。今天每组句子的前半部分，都是一样的；每组句子的后半部分，都是不一样的。
开始练习喽！
一、让孩子动笔，完成五组练习。
① Victor is fat.
② Victor can run very fast.
① + but + ② =
① Joe is at the playground.
② Joe does not want to play on the slide. （slide: 滑梯）
① + but + ② =
① I have a toothache. （toothache：牙疼）
② I do not want to see the dentist. （see the dentist：看牙医）
① + but + ② =
① The lion is hungry.
② The lion does not eat the deer.
① + but + ② =
① Jessie stands on the stool. （stool：凳子）
② Jessie cannot reach the top bookshelf.
（bookshelf：书架）
① + but + ② =
二、完成之后，一起对答案。
Victor is fat but he can run very fast
Joe is at the playground but he does not want to play on the
slide.
I have a toothache but I do not want to see the
dentist.
The lion is hungry but it does not eat the deer.
Jessie stands on the stool but she cannot reach the top
bookshelf.
孩子写错的句子，要重新誊抄一遍。
三、对完答案，让孩子像上面那样，给句子划上荧光笔。
划完荧光笔之后，可以对孩子说：but 前面的句子，和 but 后面的句子，在意思上，会有所转折。
