"Cullinan, Thomas Major (Sir). Kt. Cr. 1910; D.S.O. 1916; M.L.A. 1910-15 and 1916-21; b. Elands Post, 1862; m. Miss Harding; nine children. Educ.: Aliwal North, C.P. Discoverer and Chairman of the Premier Diamond Mine; takes a keen interest in all political matters; advocated responsible Government for Transvaal and Free State, and represented Pretoria North in the first Transvaal Parliament, and was a great advocate of Union; was elected for the same constituency for the first Union Parliament; is Chairman for the S.A. Party for the W.W. Rand; is also Chairman and Director of the New Eland Diamonds Limited, and Director of several Gold Mining Companies; is the owner of the Consolidated Rand Brick, Pottery and Lime Company, Limited; is very greatly interested in farming and afforestation, and owns several farms in the Transvaal.
