GUANGZHOU, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- A man jumped onto subway tracks in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong province, Thursday night, breaking a leg and suspending trains for 30 minutes, the municipal subway company said.
The man climbed over subway platform barriers and fell on the tracks of Guangzhou's Line 5 subway at 6:47 p.m., just as a train was approaching, the company said in a press release.
It said the company had to cut off power and suspend trains in both directions for 30 minutes to save the man, who has been hospitalized with a leg fracture.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
