Ceremony held to honor Shenzhou IXastronauts

BEIJING - Three astronauts of the Shenzhou IX mission who conducted China's firstmanned space docking in June have received awards for their service to the country'sspace endeavors.

Jing Haipengcommander of the Shenzhou IX flight crewwas honored with a second-class aerospace achievement medalLiu Wang and Liu Yangwho is China's firstfemale astronautwere both conferred third-class medals.

They were given the awards on Monday at a ceremonyfollowing a decision by theCommunist Party of China Central Committeethe State Council and the CentralMilitary Commission (CMC).
