Just a day after the State Council launched its first Weibo account Saturday, which is designed to announce new regulations and rules, more than 250,000 Web users had signed on as followers.
"The account aims to deliver administrative orders, publicize policies, instruct work and serve society," said its first posting published Saturday morning, which also promised to "timely and accurately publish State policies."
The account was opened by the State Council's General Office, which is responsible for providing a bulletin-like communiqué service announcing new rules and regulations that have come into effect in the previous 10 days.
The office has been issuing such communiqués since the service was established by the State Council in 1955.
The communiqués include the official text of current administrative rules and regulations.
The account sends followers a basic headline of a new announcement that includes the general topic and a Web link to the full text.
During its first day of operation, the account posted 15 newly announced entries ranging from a vehicle recall system and physical education at schools to firefighting and environmental supervision recently issued by both the State Council and ministries.
