Paul & a Farmer A rich businessman called Paul was driving along the country road in his car. He had a very important meeting in a hotel in the town of Newburg and was already ten minutes late for it. He was very worried and in a hurry. But the hotel was in a part of the town he did not know very well, so he did not know how to get there. Soon Paul Hill was lost. The businessman had a map in his car, but since he didn’t know where he was, the map was not useful. He knew he had to find someone and ask him the way. Paul drove on slowly. A few minutes later he saw a farmer walking along the road with a cow. “I’ll ask him the way to Newburg,” he thought. “Maybe he knows.” And he stopped the car, opened the window and put his head out. “Excuse me,” he said to the farmer. “But how far is it from here to Newburg?” “I don’t know,” the farmer said. “Does this road go to Newburg?” the businessman asked again. “I don’t know,” said the man with the cow. “Well, do you know where Newburg is?” Hill asked again. “No,” the farmer answered. Angrily, the businessman said, “You don’t know much, do you?” “No,” the farmer said. “But at least(至少) I’m not lost.” |
