看影视剧学地道口语(3)：我被放鸽子了

几个人约好一起去看电影，或去逛街，或去爬山，其中一个人却失约，你很气愤地说：“太过分了，居然放我鸽子！”那么，“爽约，放鸽子”英语怎么说呢？可以用stand up来表示。【上期回顾：To bark up the wrong tree你打错算盘了。】

大家可能都会说stand up. 这不就是“站起来”的意思吗？是的，一点也没错。但是，to stand up后面再加一个"某人"，那它的意思就完全不同了。To stand up someone就是一个人没有能按时去赴重要的约会，特别是和女朋友或男朋友的约会。例如：
Why did you stand her up last night, then?
那么，昨天晚上你为什么失约?

I didn't stand her up on purpose.
我不是故意失约。

电影情景再现：

在《欲望都市》中，Miranda打电话给性爱专家Carrie，倾诉约会对象迟到了三个钟头，自己被放了鸽子。Carrie表示不相信男人会放女人鸽子。

音频：

-Miranda:My date is three hours late. I'm being stood up, right?
我的约会对象迟到了三个钟头，我被放鸽子了，对吧？

-Carrie:Maybe he got lost.

-Miranda:Carrie.

-Carrie:Doesn't look good.
情况不妙。

-Miranda:And I'm wearing a new dress. And I'm eating out of plastic.

-Miranda:The least he could do is get to know me before he rejects me.
最起码他应该先认识我，再拒绝我。

-Carrie:Yeah, that's illegal dumping.

-Miranda:It's crazy. This hasn't happened to me since I'm 27. I should know better. I thought I'd got smarter about picking them now.

-Carrie:I can't believe guys still stand girls up.
