GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1-A.7. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS.

NECK WARMER:
Worked back and forth on circular needle.
Cast on 296-334-372 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Alpaca. Work 2 ridges in GARTER ST - see explanation above. Then work as follows from RS: 1 edge st in garter st, A.1 (= 6 sts), A.2 (= 19 sts) 15-17-19 times in width in total, A.3 (= 3 sts), 1 edge st in garter st. Continue with this pattern back and forth until A.1, A.2 and A.3 have been worked 2-2-3 times vertically. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Then continue the pattern the same way but now work A.4 instead of A.2 and the other sts as before. When A.4 has been worked 1 time vertically, 4 sts have been dec in every repetition (i.e. 60-68-76 sts dec in total on row) = 236-266-296 sts remain.
Then work pattern as before but now work A.5 (= 15 sts) instead of A.4. Continue until A.5 has been worked 1-2-3 times vertically. Then work pattern as before but now work A.6 (= 15 sts) instead of A.5. When A.6 has been worked 1-1-1 time vertically, 2 sts have been dec in every repetition (i.e. 30-34-38 sts dec in total on row) = 206-232-258 sts remain.
Then work pattern as before but now work A.7 (= 13 sts) instead of A.6. Continue until neck warmer measures 41-45-49 cm / 16"-17 3/4"-19 1/4", work 2 ridges over all sts on row. K 1 row from RS, and loosely bind off from WS.
ASSEMBLY:
Sew neck warmer tog mid back inside 1 edge st in garter st. Cut and fasten the yarn.

INCREASE TIP 1:
Inc 1 st by getting yarn between 2 sts from previous row - K this st twisted, i.e. work in back loop of st instead of front to avoid holes.
INCREASE TIP 2:
Inc on each side of A.1 as follows from RS: * 1 YO, A.1 (= 4 sts), 1 YO *, repeat the same inc every time working according to A.1 on round = 4 times in total on row and 8 sts inc.
Repeat the same inc every 3rd-2nd-2nd-2nd row 7-12-15-16 times in total, then inc every 5-5-4-3? cm / 2"-2"-1?"-1 1/4" 2-2-3-4 times in total (= 72-112-144-160 sts inc) = 266-326-371-401 sts.

PONCHO:
Poncho is worked top down, in the round on circular needle, and then back and forth when working pattern.
Cast on 170-184-193-202 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Alpaca. Work 3 ridges in GARTER ST – see explanation above, AT THE SAME TIME on last round in last ridge inc 24-30-34-39 sts evenly - READ INCREASE TIP 1. There are now 194-214-227-241 sts on needle. Then work as follows: 26-36-47-45 sts in stockinette st, A.1 (= 4 sts), 38-28-20-31 sts in stockinette st, A.1, 53-73-80-76 sts in stockinette st, A.1, 38-28-20-31 sts in stockinette st, A.1, 23-33-44-42 sts in stockinette st.
Continue the same way, AT THE SAME TIME inc on each side of the 4 repetitions of A.1 - read INCREASE TIP 2! Continue like this until piece measures 22-25-27-30 cm / 8 3/4"-9 3/4"-10?"-11 3/4". Then work PATTERN back and forth as follows from RS mid back: 1 edge st in garter st, A.2 (= 6 sts), A.3 (= 15 sts) 17-21-24-26 times in width, A.4 (= 3 sts), 1 edge st in garter st. NOTE! Make sure that eyelet row A.1 meets eyelet rows in pattern A.3. Continue like this back and forth until 12-13-14-15 cm / 4 3/4"-5"-5?"-6" of pattern A.2, A.3 and A.4 have been worked vertically and piece measures approx. 34-38-41-45 cm / 13?"-15"-16"-17 3/4". Then work as follows: 1 edge st in garter st, pattern according to A.5 until 1 st remains, 1 edge st in garter st. Continue back and forth until A.5 has been worked 1 time vertically. Loosely bind off.
ASSEMBLY:
Sew poncho tog mid back. Sew in outer loops of edge sts to avoid a chunky seam. Fasten off.

PONCHO:
Worked back and forth to make a vent in each side. Then continue in the round until finished measurements.
Loosely cast on 234-253-272-291 sts (includes 3 edge sts in each side) on circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 with Cotton Light. Work 1 ridge in GARTER ST back and forth - see explanation above! Then work as follows: 3 edge sts in garter st, PATTERN according to diagram A.1 (= 19 sts on 1st row) 12-13-14-15 times in width, and finish with 3 edge sts in garter st. NOTE: After 1st row in diagram A.1 has been worked, 2 sts have been dec in every repetition (a total of 24-26-28-30 sts dec on row) = 210-227-244-261 sts. Continue back and forth until A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically. Then work the same way with pattern as before but work A.3 instead of A.2. Continue with A.3 3 times vertically AT THE SAME TIME on last row from RS (i.e. last repetition of A.3 vertically), dec 61 sts evenly = 149-166-183-200 sts. Slip sts on a stitch holder and knit another part the same way. When the other part is finished, work in stockinette st over all sts from RS. Slip sts from stitch holder back on needle and continue in stockinette st over these sts = 298-332-366-400 sts. Then work in the round. On next round insert 6 markers in the piece as follows: First marker directly above vent in one side, 38-42-45-49 sts in stockinette st, insert a marker here, 73-82-93-102 sts in stockinette st, insert a marker here, 38-42-45-49 sts in stockinette st, insert a marker here, 38-42-45-49 sts in stockinette st, insert a marker here, 73-82-93-102 sts in stockinette st, insert a marker here, 38-42-45-49 sts in stockinette st. Then work in stockinette st, AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 21-22-22-20 cm / 8 1/4"-8 3/4"-8 3/4"-8" dec as follows: Work in stockinette st until 2 sts remain before first marker, then dec 1 st on each side of marker – READ DECREASE TIP! Repeat this dec on each side of the other markers in piece = 12 sts dec on round. Repeat this dec every 4?-3?-2?-2? cm / 1 3/4"-1 1/4"-7/8"-7/8" 1-2-4-5 more times (= 2-3-5-6 times in total) = 274-296-306-328 sts. Then dec the same way but now dec every cm / ?'' 8-9-9-10 times in total = 178-188-198-208 sts remain. Continue with 5 ridges, AT THE SAME TIME dec 23-24-22-23 sts evenly on first row in first ridge = 155-164-176-185 sts remain. Loosely bind off, cut the yarn and fasten.

Then work as follows: A.1 over the first 82 sts, AT THE SAME TIME dec 3 sts evenly over these sts (= 79 sts), * stockinette st over the next 26-30-34 sts, continue with P 2, K 2, P 2 over the next 6 sts (these sts are directly above P 2, K 2, P 2 from rib) *, repeat from *-* 2 more times, stockinette st over the next 26-30-34 sts, A.1 over the next 82 sts, AT THE SAME TIME dec 3 sts evenly over these sts (= 79 sts), * stockinette st over the next 26-30-34 sts, continue with P 2, K 2, P 2 over the next 6 sts (these sts are directly above P 2, K 2, P 2 from rib) *, repeat from *-* 2 more times, stockinette st over the next 26-30-34 sts = 402-434-466 sts.
Insert 4 markers in piece as follows: Insert first marker after 108-112-116 sts (between 2 K sts in first rib), second marker after 172-184-196 sts (between 2 K sts in third rib), third marker after 309-329-349 sts (between 2 K sts in fourth rib), and fourth marker after 373-401-429 sts (between 2 K sts in sixth rib).
Continue this pattern AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 10 cm / 4’’, dec 1 st on each side of markers - READ DECREASE TIP.
Repeat dec every 2 cm / 3/4’’ 19-19-19 times, then on every cm / ?’’ 5-9-13 times (24-28-32 dec in total) = 210 sts remain on needle in all sizes.
Piece measures approx. 52-56-60 cm / 20?”-22”-23?”. Switch to circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4. K 1 round while AT THE SAME TIME dec 42 sts evenly = 168 sts. P 1 round.
Work rib = K 2/P 2 for 20 cm / 8’’.
Bind off sts with K over K and P over P.
