A conference, with the aim of promoting the concept of low-carbon lifestyles
and seeking out the best players in the area of green and low-carbon
development, is to be held on July 26, 2014, in Beijing, China.org.cn
reports.
According to the organizer, The International Energy Conservation
Environmental Protection Association (IEEPA), the summit will recognize a number
of outstanding innovators who are dedicated to leading Chinese society towards
green and low-carbon development.
The Carbon-Value Innovator Award is a new award that the International
Carbon-Value Award summit put into effect this year in order to honor innovative
enterprises that have made great contributions to environmental protection and
ecological construction.
IEEPA secretary-general Jon Li said, "Future global economic competition will
be embodied by innovation that uses green and low-carbon technology and products
as its kernel. Anyone who has the courage to be an innovator will definitely
take the lead in future economic growth."
Li added, "The best way to develop the green and low-carbon economy is to
combine innovation and market demand, domestic and foreign resources with policy
guidance."
The 2014 International Carbon-Value Award Summit aims to highlight green and
low-carbon development and encourage small and medium-sized enterprises to
become outstanding players within the field.
In recent years, the issues of a worsening environment, climate change and
energy security have imposed tangible threats on global sustainable development
between the economy and the society in general.
A United Nations report issued in January this year shows that the cost of
addressing climate change would likely account for 4-percent of global GDP by
2030.
