Chinese player Wang Chen has signed with Italian volleyball club Vero Volley Monza. This makes Wang Chen the first male Chinese player to sign with an overseas club. He is scheduled to begin playing for Monza next season. Wang says he expects to adapt fairly quickly to the Italian league. "First of all, as a player, I hope I can be on the starting list and learn new things from my team-mates. As you know, the level of the Italian Serie A is higher than our domestic league, so I think I need a certain amount of time to adapt to the environment there, as I don't really know my team-mates. I think i'll need some time to adjust, but this process will not take long."
Wang Chen had been the captain of the Beijing BAIC Volleyball Club, as well as a member of the national team. He helped lead the Beijing club to the domestic league crown, as well as third place in the Asian Champions League last season. |
