NEW YORK, Aug. 6 -- A patient admitted to a New York City hospital with fever andgastrointestinal symptoms after a visit to West Africa has tested negative for the Ebolavirus, the hospital said on Wednesday.
"We would like to report that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention havedetermined that the patient kept in isolation since Monday at the Mount Sinai Hospital hastested negative for Ebola Virus Disease," the hospital said in a statement.
The patient, who traveled recently to a West Africa country where Ebola had beenreported, was in a stable condition and was improving, the statement added.
Ebola, which spreads through bodily fluids, has killed 932 people and affected over 1,700others this year in four Western African countries -- Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and SierraLeone, according to the World Health Organization.
